July 2020
Dear Colleague,

On a scale of 1 to 10, how successful are you in optimizing your hospital’s clinical data? The mandatory implementation of Electronic Health Records (EHR) in 2018 formalized a digitization process that has been many years in the making. Now, the focus shifts to managing this data efficiently and effectively. Because clinical data is too important in too many ways for a hospital. But how do you manage and mine unstructured EHR data such as notes, reports, treatment instructions, and discharge records? That task is not as daunting as it may seem. The CTcue technology embedded in our Forcea HealthReport Clinical module allows you to search both structured and unstructured data and link it to your administrative modules. Our use case on missed bladder scan invoicing illustrates this point beautifully. We also have an interview with Aly Talen, co-founder & VP MedTech Strategy of genae, about the untapped potential of participating in Medtech clinical trials and how Forcea HealthReport Clinical can help with feasibility studies and patient selection. Real World Evidence studies are another little-known field where automated EHR analytics can facilitate participation, GDPR compliance included. You will find out all about it in the article below. So how successful are you in optimizing your clinical data? We hope this month’s newsletter will help you identify a host of opportunities to improve your score.

Spotlight: Real World Evidence Studies
Real World Evidence (RWE) studies are an interesting option for hospitals to participate in clinical research and to gain insight into the efficacy of their own practices, treatment plans or therapies. The CTcue platform in the Forcea HealthReport Clinical module facilitates a hospital’s participation in these RWE trials with fast, reliable and GDPR-compliant results.

Case in Point: Bladder Scan Invoicing and the Power of EHR Mining
Too many hospitals leave the potential of their clinical database untouched, incorrectly assuming that unstructured Electronic Health Record (EHR) data is impossible to mine. One Belgian hospital successfully queried its EHR database using the CTcue function in the Forcea HealthReport Clinical module. The simple, quick search yielded thousands of Euros in missed revenue.

Close Up: genae and the Secret to MedTech Trial Success
In September 2019, genae joined the IQVIA Healthcare family. Genae is a data-driven service provider with a focus on MedTech devices and technologies. In an industry largely focused on pharmaceutical trials, this MedTech capability is unique. We talked to Aly Talen, co-founder of genae & VP MedTech Strategy of IQVIA MedTech, about how its experts can help manage MedTech clinical trials with full-service CRO-support in every phase of the research process.
